I will be paying attention Mitch. I built damn near all the models for the G challenge, but really need help getting involved. Theres just no clubs near Phila. I joined the AMA, but dont drive, and its hard to get to the events.

Home for a few days and I getting rained out in Seattle. We will have to wait until next week for flight testing...

I am glad to hear you joined AMA, did you join FAC as well. My main focus is the FAC, Flying Aces Club's purpose is for the building and flying of FF Rubber Power models. I need to belong to AMA as the parent organization as the events are AMA sponsored. I get an AMA magazine and the FAC newsletter. If you are not flying in contest you do not NEED to belong to the AMA. Pictures of my Guillow models have been twice been published in the FAC news. I have still not met any members of my local FAC Squadron myself, but plan to this summer.

I went on the FAC website and looked at the Squadron list. There are 3 squadrons listed in PA. Squadron 1 is in Erie, PA. Squadron 8 is in Philadelphia, PA and Squadron 19 is in Bethal Park, PA. They may or may not be active... The members of my club seem older than I as they meet for LUNCH on Thursday. I have been working during every meeting, but hope to see some of these guys at our field (have not been there yet) this summer for flying. I fly at my local schoolyard (when not in secession) or a local park. My models are flying better and I will soon NEED a proper field.

The next FAC National event will be at Geneseo, NY this summer. I will NOT be attending this year. My next planned contest will be for the WEST Nationals in 2015 in AZ. I hope to learn more and fly locally and have competition models ready for that contest. I plan to have a few Guillow models in my lineup!

Going though my pile of mail... and found my next issue of FAC NEWS!

So about rubber motors... from the 'Muse Shop' column, Vance says " Although it helps if you have it, it ain't all about rubber length in the space. It really is about rubber "mass" - just ask ... Don DeLoach."

Well it was Don that help me get my 109 ready for action at WESTFAC IV. And I first heard it here on this Forum to move the rear peg forward. So I will stay with that. All my new construction and retrofits will move the rear peg forward.

I will still plan to make some tests with this early 109 and see if there is a noticeable difference.

Mitch... back to my FAC News...

Thanks mitch, and I will look into it. I also like to fly RC as yoou must know, and am joining a club. I have a friend in it, and he is going to sponsor me. These clubs seem kind of choosy about who they want in. I guess I can under stand, not wanting a reckless person, or just a jerk to hang out with in a club. Thanks again for the info.

David, just recently learned that an indoor FF club in your area uses the Bridesburg Rec Center for their flying.

Don't know any details beyond that. If that sounds interesting to you, give the Rec Ctr. a call to learn more.
