Arrow (laser cut) plus introduction

Hello all, I am new here but have messed with stick and tissue since age 12...recently read the Don Ross book on rubber FF and now think I should build every kit I tryed again! Build mostly high wings but recently have taken and interest in WWII fighters.
Current build is the Arrow..really love laser cut kits. What is a good flying weight for this kit? Also...has anyone ever built it without polyhedral? I have been told poly holds thermal turns better...just thought would look nice with standard dihedral...I have 2 Arrow kits so will build both wings to see flight difference....still trying to figure out how to add photos to my posts...

I get "image is invalid"....it is a .jpg pic from my smart phone...any thoughts as what I am doing wrong?

Welcome to the forum. Yes, I think you should build every model you built before, again.

To upload a picture, I think you need an account on photobucket or flickr or something similar. There is a thread on this forum about how to post pictures. You have to link the image to the online account.

Hello Wildpig...yes, I struggled a lot as a young builder...my goal this year is to improve my tissue covering skills...And would like to get a warbird fighter like the bf-109 to fly for 30 seconds or more!...my youthful attempts at warbirds was a disaster....I do not mind building a kit more then once...you learn the weak areas and know what's important to make them come out straighter on second build

It took me 6 months to figure out how to download photos. Widdog gave me his phone number, and walked me through the process. maybe he can help you as well. I'm glad your building again. I too just picked up the hobby three yrs ago after a 25 yr. leave of absence, but now i'm divorced, and the kids grown, and I'm very happy. I truly Love this hobby.

That is a great link....however I am trying to post pics using just my smart phone as my laptop died recently....not sure if "right click" is possible with smart phone?

Welcome, and your Arrow (from what I see) looks nice. I built one about 2 years ago, I had 2, helped a newbie build one also. I bought 2 more (die cut) and I (like you) thought to make changes to see what they could do. I have not done this yet. The problem I have with mine is the nose. I need to open it up so I can get some more rubber loaded. I will be home in a few days and can start posting some pictures. If we work together on this project we can test more "wing styles".

I increased the ws on mine to the extent I could extend the LE and TE with the kit wood. My Arrow has a ws of 30 inches.

Although my passion is for scale war birds, I believe everyone who wants to build 'flying' models should build some endurance models like the Arrow!

Thanks for the welcome Mitch. The extend to 30" is a good thought...I have never entered a contest but hope to attend a couple this year. I believe there is a class called P-30 that the Arrow may qualifiy for...it sounds like you could have up to 30" WS in that event. You reminded me I need to open up the front and make a proper removable nose for trim purposes ( I have not apply tissue to fuse yet so only a little rework)and I hope to make my first blast tube for this plane....I did not know what a blast tube was or why you would want one until I read the Don Ross book

I like experimenting with these kinds of endurance planes. I believe it is helping me get a feel for what works, so on my scale planes, I can set them up so they fly better.

The hardwood wheels supplied with kit are heavy at 7.4 grams for the pair....I calculate this is almost 1/3 of my total projected airframe weight I do like the vintage look though...I hollowed them out for a 3 gram weight savings but have some foam wheels that are even lighter...still on the fence of what wheels to use...will post pics later tonight.
