Hunterdude... look at the P-47 in the hanger at the beginning of the video ... It is HUGE. The top of the wing looks to be about as high as men's shoulders. Then look at the 109 and the wing is barely waist high.

The Storch is a STOL aircraft. Short Take Off and Landing. Model is Out of Production by Guillows but Dumas makes it in 30" ws. The Dumas model comes with 2 window options for with or without rear gun. No other parts are included. I built mine as a Pre-WW2 model. I plan to build another for the Russian winter... White, rear gunner, and skis. FAC awards extra points for skis!

I plan for my new 109 to have similar colors, my Dumas Storch flew well on test flights but crashed in Denver during an FAC contest. It was a very windy day and I do not recommend you to fly on windy days!

Mitch...It seems we have similar taste in aircraft...I actually own the Dumas Storch kit but is unbuilt yet, I also have the Dumas 109 fighter also unbuilt...part of my problem is I work lots of overtime, the other issue is I do not have a proper build area so I am on the kitchen table and must "clear away" for meals and such. I plan to convert a bedroom to dedicated build area this summer and that will be sweet. In the mean time I have been collecting kits when ever I can get a deal on them, I have approx 65 kits on hand...over 45 of them are Guillows.
I was surprised when you said 1000 series are same scale as 400 series becase I do not pay much attention to the "scale" and look more at wing span to see if RC gear I have on hand is suitable to fly it. I have just begun to research wwII fighters this year. A flying buddy took photos of a real 109 parked in the Dayton Ohio museum for me 2 weeks ago, it almost looks like it would fit diagonal in a 2 car garage! The Hellcat was more a fighter/bomber so was huge in comparison. I plan to make a trip to Dayton Ohio to view the 109... and to get my "size/scale" calibrated...as I am not yet real knowledge able and am used to looking at small pictures and models only...so my "brain scale" is way off

That is one reason why I like the 400 series Guillow kits... and latter (Yes... I remember when they first came out) the 1000 series. They are all the SAME scale. I remember when I was a kid and building plastic 1/48 scale planes, then got an Me109... I thought is this 1/72? Yes it is a SMALL airplane!

I am new to FAC and I am the only one I know who cares about scale. They all are looking at ws. But the important thing to have fun and build what you like!
