Where can you get lubrication for rubber motors?

Back in the day I used green dish soap. It had something in it that helped but for the life of me I can't remember what it was.

Glycerin and Tincture of Green Soap is the old fashioned way.

Dow Corning no. 33

Armor-All for automobiles.

SIG used to make lube, maybe still does.

I just use armour all car spray. Sure it dries over time, but you just give them a touch up periodically.

Cool thing about ArmorAll is you can spritz some into a ZipLoc freezer bag, put your motor in , seal the bag and swish the motor around for a minute or so to get it lubed all over. I keep my motors stored in the bags in a cool, dark place when not using them. When I want to fly they're always ready to go .

My latest experiment with motor lube is wiyth silicone lube. Us Mechanics call it spark plug grease. It's made not to interact negatively to any kind of rubber, and never dries out. Its called Dielectric silicone compound. If u go to auto part store u can get a small tube for like $5.00, it is rather expensive, but it's the best thing i've used yet.

Thanks for all the replies to my question on rubber motor lube. One I tried years ago, glycerin and green soap and I am having a hard time finding here in Richmond. But I got some new ideas too. I have had dielectric silicon for a long time for work on my cars.

I think this is a plastic model, but I love the paint scheme. I was researching decals for my Swallow 2, And I never new that tge Luftwaffe name for the ME-262 Was The Schwalbe, Or Swallow in English, And I never new the Real Swallow as in the Bird, Is the fastest diving bird.I know they sell adhesive paper for printing decals,and I asked this before, but forget; How do I print the decals on tissue. Scan it then print on paper with tissue taped or what? I know War is about the most horrific things humans do, but if vnot for ww2; imagi what the world would be like. WE would still have piston prop planes, No Gps, And God no we surewouldnt have cell phones, and the list goes on and on. so all the suffering ( my family lost 2 men in ww2) was not in vain. I can not even imagine what those poor souls went through at the hands of Nazi camps, but at least something good came from it.

Re Lubes... I use Dow Corning 33. It is a paste and does not splatter the inside of the model like the lighter lubes will do.

Re Decals... I have not made decals, but I have printed copies of what I want from the internet on bond paper and use that. I have also copied decals to paper and used those. I have also printed things directly to tissue paper that was taped to bond paper with some success...(after a few paper jams)

Lube: Dow33
Printing on tissue: Light coat of spray mount on backer then press backer to piece of paper and remove to reduce tack. Apply the tissue to the backer and run through the printer. Never a jam.
Decals: I have used them with great success but they require a few steps to be sure they don't run when getting them off the backer.
NOTE: PRINTING ON TISSUE AND DECALS SHOULD BE DONE WITH EPSON PRINTERS USING DURA BRITE INKS. THESE ARE WATER RESISTANT AND ARE THE ONLY ONES I HAVE FOUND TO WORK CONSISTENTLY WITHOUT RUNNING.

I'm a novice and just preparing to field my first model soon. I'm going to try a different method of lubing my motor. Since I've read that Armor All works, and I also read (I believe in Don Ross's famous RPMA book) that you can use a small squeegee to rid the motor of excess lube, I'm going to try using Armor All Protectant Wipes.

I imagine that they use the same formula as the spray... just drop a wipe in a Ziploc with the motor, and when ready, wipe the moist Armor All soft cloth along the length of the motor a few times...

Ive tried everything and always go back to green soap glycerine.
