Covering tissue question

I addae a small amount of vinegar to mo misting bottle. I have been tld to do this, but I dont know why. What does the vinegar do that is beneficial. How does it work?

It sets pigment into paper. Sort of like how salt water works on cloth. You would only need to use it with cheap paper.

I am using cheap paper, and thanx. I added about 2 capfuls to a 12 oz. mist bottle.
