Nice. That's one model they really need to add to the line again.

Very Nice... I have one in my shop under construction. It will be Russian Markings. There is one or two on ebay right now. If I did not have one I would bid on it. This model is 1/16 scale like the 400 and 1000 models. The 1/12 scale posted on the box is incorrect.

If Guillow's ever brings back only one model my vote would be for the Cobra!

Yes, a really nice kit...and there is one on ebay with NO bids and one day to go... starting price is less than 45 dollars. Even with shipping that is less than the current price of an 800 series kit... Mitch

Yes... It does seem a bit high but it is a heavy kit... like the 1000 series. I bought my Corsair for $15 but then noticed the shipping was $25... Still a good deal. The Cobra is OOP. My rule is not to pay more than what the kit would sell for today if produced. I buy kits to build, not an investment for retirement.

Mitch...Keep Building :D

Of course all that might change in the last three minutes when the snipers come out of lurking and shoot it out to see who wins  .

You can get lucky once in a while though, and be the only bidder. Hope it happens for ya Mitch, good luck with it.

I already bought one about 6 years ago... I just unwrapped it last year. It is in my work shop, under construction. But I am at a stop, because I want to make molds of all the plastic parts before I cut them out as they are no longer available. On that note if anyone here wants plans I can copy what I have for you.

I believe as my friend Dave Duckett also said "This was the best kit Guillow's ever made!"

I bought a BUNCH of Comet kits off ebay cheap. I got them to build not to collect. Got all the ones I wanted but couldn't afford when I was younger.

I believe it. Bill Parker on this forum has been doing just that for a long time.

The Comet kits made back in the 1930s & 40s can go for top dollar if they're complete in original box and in good condition. For some reason some of those very same kits were in continuous production all the way into the 80s and 90s but the collectors value of the newer production kits isn't nearly as high. Go figure. Prolly a nostalgia thing for a lot of folks.

I not going to bid on the P-39, but I am watching another kit... a Sterling ship model of a C-2 "American Scout" The model is over 4 feet long. I remember seeing the finished model in a hobby shop when I was a kid. I am not old enough to have worked on that ship though. It would make a nice display model for my Union Hall... US Lines is out of business and was an East Coast company. I am sure I could paint it up to be an APL ship. Back in the day the shipping companies would buy the same ship as the C-2 is a standard 5 hatch design Cargo Ship. I am old enough to have worked on a "Boom" ship. This ship has cargo booms and gear. During my year at sea as a Midshipman I trained on Farrell Lines, and Moore-McCormick Lines, both of those ships were "Boom Ships" I also trained on 3 other vessels, those were "modern" Container-ships and a Tanker... Okay, I starting to feel old...

...at least I didn't spend "2 years before the Mast".

I might let this go and see if he re-posts it at a cheaper price...thinking...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/231337386944?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

okay...okay, I know I'm getting off topic but I just found this also doing some research on C-2's

http://www.usmm.org/mayaguez.html

I remember when this ship was taken. It was very big news for us, as I was at the Academy when this happened. The ship was first built as the S.S. White Falcon, then converted to a container-ship by Sea-Land Service. So if I buy this kit, I would build it as the White Falcon... now I really have a link to my own history and memories... Mitch
