Thanks much NcGunny. I don't remember who gave me the advice to return to stretch winding but I must admit they are correct. I have been doing bench testing with old models. The stretch winding is the way to go..BTW I have a plastic collection for windshields. I made a vacuum former once I need to improve and make another one.

Made some more progress with the Cessna this rainy Saturday morning. For grass landings I think I will really have to reinforce the landing gear. I was going to try some sponge wheels but I kind of chickened out.

Got some more done with the Cessna. Next step is to carve a cowling from Balsa wood.

Sorry the photo's are small. I will resize them from now on. The Guillow's method calls for not gluing the thrust bearing into place. Although the fit for the trust bearing is a tight fit. I don't think it holds up to allow for a good prop Freewheeling. I have noticed that my models with a removable a nose block fly much better than the no glue thrust buttons.

Looking good Wid!! I clicked on the little pic and couldnt see anything on photobucket,just stayed a black screen. I shudder everytime I see those thin red wheels on anything..lmao! Next time I go home to Va. I will.throw some balsa blocks to ya, W Va line is literally 30 feet out my parents backdoor in a hollEeer. (W Va joke to those that do not come from this area. As in..We grew up in a holler) lol..took me my whole life to get rid of accent,but I still type it alot.

Lol from Mountaineer country i.e. Morgantown. Thanks for the Balsa block idea. You know what I really need help with is carving props. I need to know what size block to carve a 5 inch prop.

Sorry Widd.. we are on I81 side of Va. Lol..I consider prop carving to be up there with being a woodwright..I have read some nice articles on it. Hippo, Stick and Tissue has a great one, I even think there is one on here somewhere. I buy my props..lol doing my part in saving balsa and keeping the economy going. I did see some balsa blocks,..maybe 3x3x2' on Walmart or Lowes or Home Depot online that were like $3ish range yesterday.

Thanks much NcGunny! that's amazing! Since I can't carve props. I started collecting plastic props. Carving props has always been something that I always wanted to do. With this calculator I'm going try it again.

I'm at the sanding and covering stage of the build. There is a yellow Cessna 150 at the local airport.

Glad you can use the calc Wid. I mostly use 3 blade props so I buy cheap wooden and cut them at the hubs and build my 3 bladers. Three props garners me 2 in the end. I have used a template from a Guillows plan and built the blades,wet them,strap em to a can and dry in the oven. Kinda shade tree but once the edges are thinned they look decent.

Thanks again and good tip about the three bladed prop. I want to add a three bladed peanut prop to my collection. I received a book for my collection. I will review it and post about it.

I finished the model enough to start trim flights. Remember this is a reduced model 17 in. ws vs. 24 in ws.

Looks good Wid. Even better I see the Folk Art paint in the background. Works really good for.most anything I do. I can almost get the paint to dry instantly now. No worry about tissue sags etc. Hope you r taking a vid of testing for us to watch.
