The glue stick and wet finger thing will work best. You may need to do it a few times. It it good to dope or spray several coats on the wooden frame to help with adherance if painting. I am no Rubber FF master, but when I do build one I use colored tissue, and seal wood with 50/50, or stronger Elmers water mix, and glue stick (the El Cheapo stuff not good. Use Elmers). Shrink with mister, and finally a light coat of clear paint. I have tried a coat of Elmers water, but found it not as good. You are going to lose a lot of scale looks if You want Her to Fly well, but the Clear Paint Spray seems to give a better finish, and lifelike appearance. If weight is not an issue, than Dope, Dope, and Dope it up. Even Sanding sealer it ! Acrylic paints I like the best, but You gotta give them a chance. They are scary until You get used to how they react. And that tissue that is in the newer kits is horrible. It has no strength of any kind. It is very "crinkly", and "crispy". I prefer silk (*which for unknown to Me reasons) which seems to not exist for sale anywhere, but am always experimenting with different types of tissue/ Nylon, and lightweight shrink stuff most recently. And there is this stuff called "Hodge Podge" I have been tinkering with, but do not know much about. They make about 6 or 7 bifferent types of it. As My LHS is Closed, and the nearest one is 50 miles away. And I live in a major city (Philly) which makes it even more strange, I have been forcede to go to the local A.C. More, or Michaels, and they are not cheap, and do not have propellers, and etc. I have to wait a week for delivery now !
