series 400 kits

Ask other modelers for a little help / knowledge ?

series 400 kits

well i just bought a series 400 p40 war hawk and I have to admit im a little disappointed, this is only my second model i have ever bought the fist being a 500 Hellcat, i was hoping that the war hawk would be made from a little heavier gauge wood, then the hellcat, the one sheet is so thin i can almost see threw it, i think this will probably be my last Guillows kit at least i wount by another 400 series not for 50 bucks, ill stick to the 12 dollar little kits oh well

Those smaller, less expensive kits are a good value. I'm sorry you are disappointed about the wood size. The smaller wood is necessary to keep it light for flying, as you probably have guessed. Keep trying. Later on, you might try the FlyBoy. If you don't mind building a non-scale model. If I remember right it has 1/8" and 3/16" square structure. No 1/16" square stringers. And it's a real nice flyer. $12.50 at the local hobby shop in the States.

I just finished the 400 series Spitfire. I was disappointed as you were when I first started the assembly, but it has turned out to be my best build yet. Once you put it together, you will be happy.

display or fly

Fuel did you build yours for flying of display, i i think im going to go in the fly direction,

Well, I always start my builds thinking I am going to fly it. Then, I chicken out after all of the time I spend on them and end up painting it. I know, I'm a wuss. :oops: :wink:

Im buiding a 400 series P-40 warhawk right now and i have every intention of seeing in the sky i am doing the RC modifications needed the only thing i havent decided on is to use he .049 engine or a snall electric, i think i am going to scap the tissue and go with the other "covering" that is out now

I am going to begin my 500 series Hell Cat this weekend with every intention to fly. I hope I don't chicken out again.

Just remember the 5oo series kits are pretty cheep and the most fun is building them, and if it crashes just think of it as one less thing to dust

I AM JUST STARTING TO COVER MY 400 SERIES MUSTANG-MOST OF THE WOOD WAS VERY NICE--I DID FIND IT A LITTLE COMPLICATED FOR A FIRST MODEL FOR ME-WISH I HAD STARTED W/MAYBE A 500 SERIES-BUT IT WAS THERE AND SO WAS I. I DO PLAN ON FLYING MINE AT LEAST ONCE BEFORE PUTTING IT ON DISPLAY. I FOUND THAT WHERE I HAD A PROBLEM WAS REALLY THE FUN PART--USING SOME CREATIVITY TO REMAKE OR MODIFY A PART. WISH YOU WELL ON FUTURE PROJECTS
