Need 3 blade prop for Spitfire

Postby Blucenturion » Tue Nov 01, 2016 3:40 pm

This is my first post. I've all but completed a Spitfire and cannot bear to have it on display with the prop that was in the kit. In the past I bought 2 wood props and combined them to make a 4 blade on a Corsair, but I think I want a 3 blade on this model. Thus far I've not found any suppliers, so thought you guys might know of one perhaps. TIA, John

The GWS slow fly 9x7 3-blade prop is reasonably scale on the subject. I have it on a Guillows Spitfire that flies with an old geared brushed motor. Good chance a reasonably well stocked hobby shop with r/c aircraft would have them.

Gracias, Bill. Is yours 400 Series, or 500?

I see yours is a 400 Series now. I am not sure that prop would be appropriate, mine is 500 Series.

If I'm going to take the time to build the plane, I'll take the time to scratch build the prop. Then I can custom craft to whatever I need. Hate those plastic props especially for a display. That is part of the fun of this hobby. There is no wrong way. Its whatever turns your crank.

Thanks, it's the 400 series. GWS 3 bladers are available down to 5" I believe, although the profile is a bit different on the smaller ones.

If that proves to be the case, I could live with whatever profile it is. Thanks.

It looks like I've had success, GWS has a 5" for only 2 bucks, and none of that ten buck minimum order stuff that's so annoying. So, I owe it all to you, Bill! Thanks a lot!

You're welcome. They're good props for e-fight with these models also. It is nice to get them at a reasonable price.
