1974 500 Series P51-D

Postby TinyTrains » Tue Apr 18, 2017 2:41 pm

I built this in 1974 when I was 15, and it is still in one piece hanging in my den. My only surviving Guillow's kit.
The tail was done with Monokote trim and the props are 2 Top Flight wood props notched together. It is covered with silk-span and Sig Dope.

I thought you all would enjoy.

Very nice, I did not have the patience for that level of work at 15.

Nicely done and it has held up well. The aluminum finish is especially good. Are you still building?

Yes, I am still building. I have not built a Guillow's kit in years, but still building RC out of balsa wood.
Ironically, my current project is a P51-D, but 64" wingspan.
