At Virginia Beach, once the Stearman is at about 2K, the pilot lets you take the control and gently fly the plane. Just mild turns,, but a real solid feel and lots of fun.

This Guillow kit is pretty damn good overall. Sure the plastic engine crankcase / nose is wonky and, as you can see I modified it by essentially cutting it off, but it IS usable.

But the form of the airplane is captured almost perfectly by Guillow..The fuselage is right, the wings are correct and overall it looks just as it should, using the formers, plans and drawings provided.

Thank you to the Guillow's team for creating such terrific kits of our favorite planes..

It is so very close to the actual one in Virginia Beach. All that is missing is some exhaust marks and I'd think it real.

Chris - thank you..I was really struck by the look of this Stearman in the photo's I found. If I wasn't so hamfisted at the weathering effects I'd do it. I do like this one band box fresh though..
There are still a couple of details I yet need to add - the fuselage handles, the fuel overflow vent line on top of the upper wing, the pitot and static tubes into the LG fairings, maybe a venturi tube for the cabane struts and I still need to strap the fuel lines to the cabanes
