Kit 801 Sopwith Camel

Postby Roy » Fri Oct 05, 2018 3:28 pm

Hi. My first kit for a very long time.
Sopwith Camel wings. The leading edge is 3/16 x 1/4. What I would like to know is which side lays flat on the plan, the 3/16 or the 1/4. The fuselage is built so about to start on the wings when I find out which side lays flat on the plan.Thanka

The LE is pinned on top of 1/16" stand offs with the 1/4" being in the vertical plane. You can see this in the upper right hand portion of the instruction sheet. This is done to offset the LE to take into account the philips entry of the scale airfoil. With the LE on the 1/16" stand offs and the1/4" LE in the vertical, align the ribs with the top of the LE. This should result in all of the LE oversize dimension being on the bottom of the airfoil. Plane off the excess wood and then sand the LE to shape.
