Is this message board sloooow to y'all???

Seems like when I try to do anything with this site latey, log in , read messages, replies,etc..., it takes awhile to respond. I'm on a fiber optic connection so I don't think it's my machine. Or is it? How's it been working for the rest of you?

It's been like that for me too, for a while now - frustrating! I'm pretty sure I'm on a fibre optic connection too.

Veeeerrrryyyyy sloooooooooowwww for maybe a week now. I suspect the computer running the message board needs a reboot, or maybe the router/modem does.

I just click on where I want to go then read something else for a minute or so. Don't just keep clicking or you'll end up posting your message 2-3 times. :o

Aha..............and I thought it was my dial-up connection since the first of the month. I am digitally/computor challenged....so what do I know.....do you think the large text on some messages or the oversize photos that might be bogging the connection down???? Thanx, JGJ

Forum running slow lately

Postby mark » Thu Mar 27, 2008 1:25 pm

Hello guys,

We're sorry that the Model Builders Forum has been running veerrrrrryyy sslloooooowwwlly lately. Believe me I go onto the Admin part of the board every morning to manage it, see if anyone new has signed up and delete any Spammers and I have sure noticed the board being slow.

I have calls into the Company that hosts our web page and this message board, their reply is "this is a known problem to them right now, the data residing in the SQL databases has grown large and has gotten congested. They are working on redistributing the load of all this message data to speed the message boards back up". So, sorry to say there is nothing I can do about it except wait and put up with the slow loads along with ya'all.

So, for right now we thank you for your understanding and I will stay on top of this and make sure they fix the problem. Sure hope they fix it soon ! :)

Thanks for all the postings amd happy building !

Let's see, log in to admin 2-3 clicks, check for newly registered users 2-3 clicks, delete spammers 2-3 clicks each times 20 spammers per day. Ouch, how do you get any work done? It must take a good hour to do all that.

My guess is that the SQL data overload is not just from this forum, but also from other forums that use the same servers. Glad to hear they are working on it.

Thanks Mark and the other Guillow's folks.

Something just unclogged the pipe! The board just sped up for me while I was making a new topic post.

I don't know if you noticed, but much of last night the board was down due to some sort of error with PHP connecting to the database.

When I checked this morning the board was back up and was back to normal speed. Not sure if it was a reboot or finally fixing the database or what, but it sure is nice!
