I'm not sure why, but I saw someone else write that it was due to health concerns. It seems to me that the warnings on the Micro-Fill are more severe than are on the Hobbylite and Jet Model Mate jars. But of they reformulate the stuff it may not be as good as it used to be. Check out the Micro-Fill MSDS

I don't see an MSDS for Hobbylite or Model Mate so I emailed Hobbico and Great Planes (they own Goldberg) to get them. I'll post links/info here if/when I get it.

Kinda funny how Hobbico owns everything. My Hobbylite MSDS request email was to Hobbico as expected, but what was interesting is that my request for the Jet Model Mate MSDS went to a Great Planes email address and both requests were answered by the same person from Hobbico. I got a laugh when she wrote that I would have to contact "Jet Models" for information on that filler as they do not make it. So I took the URL for the Hobbylite MSDS and plugged in the Model Mate product number and what do you know.

Hobbico was finally able to locate the Model Mate MSDS, but they claim to have sold the filler.

We bought out the planes but the glue
and filler was sold to Jet models. Hobbico has discontinued the filler
once our stock is gone we will not be getting any more in.

A product that is (as far as I can tell) the same as NHP Micro-Fill is sold by Home Depot as Lightweight Spackling. I have used both and can not tell the difference between them. To find more on this product go to (www.homedepot.com) and search for product 01502. This product comes in regular and lightweight versions. You can tell you have the right one when you pick up the container and it feels empty.

Are you kidding me!? I just spent more money than I would like to admit on a product I already have in spades .I manage a little apartment complex on the side and have literaly buckets of this stuff .Thats why the MSDS looked so damn familiar.

If it"s the same like Walt says and from the looks of it it is .I know it as lite weight spackling compound every hardware store carries a version of it found in the drywall finishing section.

OK I apologise for the alarmist reaction I just felt a little silly paying 30 $ for Spackle I can only think that the health concern can be connected to the use of "Glass MICROBEADS" IN THE FORMULA ! Let's face it when you take any kind of mica construct and atomise it,inhale it,and continue on your daily routine .You gonna have problems !Mesothelioma just to drop one of the current favorites.All i'm saying is wear a mask and do not expose any family to the however secondary castoff contaminated air.And I do mean Period!

Let me explain my brother has worked for the carpenters union for about 29 years mostly building scaffelding for the cooling towers on nuclear power plants .Diagnosed with Mesothelioma last year not from any ambient radiation around the plants but exsposure to the joint compound used to build the union offisces that were the hiring hub for the large contracts.DO NOT I repeat DO not under any circumstances exspose you or your family to the dust ,or the reanimated dust ie:by kicking scuffing or otherwise moving the settled sandings,the mica in the "glass microbeads" is TOXIC>period ,end of story!!!!
