Hi to all from Ireland

Postby Dave Matthews » Wed Feb 04, 2009 6:44 pm

Hi guys,

Just joined and would like to say hi. As the weather over here has been rubbish for the past few weeks (no r/c flying) I desided to build an old Guillow's Spirit of St. Louis that I bought off ebay a few years ago and was collecting dust on the shelf.

Must admit I enjoyed the build as it was very calming given the lack of flying. I am planning to take it over to Scotland for the EKMFC concours night in a weeks time, on the 13th of this month. 8)

Nice wood work! I didnt realize the spirit had so much wood. Glue joints look fantastic. What glue did you use?

You might be interested to see these pictures of others building this kit. Notice that there are many pages of photos, I took the liberty of skipping to a page with lots of good pictures.

Greetings from Canada.

Nice work on the Spirit! Charles Lindberg would be proud!

Actually, it's good to see this kit "Out of the Box".

Hope you'll have a happy time here on the fourms.

Thanks Thymekiller . . .

Here are some more. I wanted to do something a little different, so I decided to make my own prop and spinner.

Wow! That is simply beautiful.

Where did you get the metal (aluminum?) foil?

How did you do the engine turning on the cowling? Looks like you are quite a craftsman.

He just puts the pencil eraser on the tinfoil and turns it, then moves to a new spot and does the same. Looks Terrific!
