Big Gaping Holes in the Tail Feathers? (rudder)

Postby BillParker » Fri Feb 06, 2009 10:51 pm

You noticed the big holes. I decided for a number of reasons to build the tail surfaces out of soilid 1/4 ply. Mostly as this plane will be static hanging in a buddy's garage, laziness took over and so...

The holes? So as to inlay 1/8 balsa, to sandwich hinges and make em at least movable...

Looks like it's time to start covering the wing and fuse...

I'll take as many photos as I remember to pick up the camera...

Un-needed advice....

Postby BillParker » Mon Feb 09, 2009 1:57 pm

Looks like your dihedral is 3.5 inches, rather than 4.5 inches. It'll fly better U-Control that way...

Were I you, I'd pop some screws thru the wing spars top and bottom at F2, and get the landing gear spar stuck in there mui pronto. These big ole wings like to come clean apart while handling them if you're not really careful. Find some place to hang that dude up outta the way for about a month and let the glue dry. (okay, not a month, but a while...)

Can't wait to see your fuse... nose cowl, canopy....

I'm covering the wing and fuse in the garage right now... WATCHING THE GLUE DRY... it's what we do here....
