whos built the messerschmitt bf-109

i was just wondering whos built the messerschmitt 109 and if you have do ya have in any tips on buildin this. and is this model better for display or for flying and about how long is the flight time on a calm day 150-200 turns

Hi cessna if it is the 500 Series keep the tail weight down.This was my frist one about tow months ago and its a display now got three good good flights well about 25ft to 30 ft but it was tail heavy had to add tow 1/2 inch washers then I move th tail forward 1/4 of a inch Got rid of one washer flew decent I put it on the wall!Do some degutting will help alot to.Very fine kit.I stiil have it 8)

From the way your going, I'd say build whatever thrills you.

From your introductory thread, you have the Cessan 180. That would make a
nice flyer. I like the Fairchild 24, it uses the box and stringer method of construction. Nice flying model.

Hi again cessna don,t mean too cut in supercruser you are telling him the right thing!But if you just love the little scale fighters in the 500 series like I do then I ercommend the P40 next it has a long nose easyer to balance out and has a roomy fuse to get rid of some weight!This was my third build up kit.My second build up was the P51 mustange 900 series very boxie and easy to build but they are flyers loses scale like qulaties.Just fininsh my F6F again I added to much tail weight thught it was just going to be a wall hanger!Found out it does fly very stable you can see my pictures at

Good work on the F6F. I may keep my for a later project.

Cessna 96836,
If you want a good balance between flight ability and scale looks,I would suggest ,in the Guillow line, AC in the 900 series. They build up lighter in weight than the 500 series without additional modifications. The balsa is thiner and lighter than 500 series AC.
I am working on the P-51 in the 900 series and doing things with a micro drill set and thin AC Aluminum to make the model lighter in weight and strong enough to handle a great number of revs. on a very light 6 inch prop.
Easy Build also has very nice kits. Many on line model clubs also offer free plans for free flight models.

sweet im going down to my hobby shop tomorow to buy the 900series mustang and bird dog. as for my messerschmitt bf-109 i think im just going to build it but not cover it i really love the inner workings of an airplane such as the ribs stringers and everything that goes into the contruction of one of these models. im going to put it on a stand in my room with a full detailed description of the aircraft and its part in the war.
and as far as the mustang and bird dog goes im going to cover those and fly them they look alot more flyer friendly compared to the other warbirds. now as far as painting goes how do yall get that awsome looking camo look on the bf 109 and etc. is it air brushing yer doing mixin colors. i mean the work you guys do to these are amazing

900 SERIES AC

The Bird Dog should be the easier ac to trim. This would have been my first choice in the 900 series,but I was unable to locate one in my area. I used a HobbyLobby 40% off coupon for the Mustang,the only 900 series at my HL store.

Prior to starting the Mustang build I would check out the information on it's construction found in this forum. Look closely at the technique for building an even fuselage.

oright fer sher right now as far as my my cessna 180 iv completed the tail section and am working on the wings and its all looking good im takeing my time with this one as of comared to my javelin that i got to overly excited with once i started seing sticks turn into shapes and shapes turn into a airplane but it flys. i plan on painting my cessna the way it apears on the box but im hearing that aero gloss paint might be to heavy

Think light weight for best flying. Using different color tissue and spraying with a very light coat of clear gloss, cheap home improvement store brand $ 1.00 a can, will add very little weight to the ac.Just a light spray.
Yes, Aero Gloss , if it's the kind I have, would add to much weight and decrease your flying time. For more of a display model , the aero gloss looks sharp.

RG is correct about weight. You can buy tissue paper in hundreds of colors at any craft store. That might get you out of needing paint. I have a can of krylon cystal clear. I have sprayed several models with it and theres enough in the can to spray MANY more.

I've always wanted to do that with one of the biplanes, like the Sopwith Camel. Fascinating all that structure, with the flying wires, too.
