Believe it or not, the profile plane flys great !! The winder is handy for most planes under 30 inch span.

The scales came from e-bay. Shop around there and you can find them pretty cheap. Mine cost about 15.00 $ plus about 5 or 7 for shipping. Its generally best to measure to hundredth of a gram.

Heres something I only just recently learned. Walmart will develope pics on regular film and give them to you on a disk or on-line. I bet other people do that also.

If you have a Harbor Freight Tool store they have several types of small-large capacity digital scales. The two "pocket" LCD scales are about ten dollars. Accurate to 0.1 gram. I bought one on sale for about eight dollars. They can also weigh in different units.

That ac is really looking good.Could be a contest winner.
I think the thin wall aluminum tubing is a great idea. You could also use it to place a "winding stooge" wire through to hold the model while stretch-winding the rubber.
Perhaps any thin piece of thin plastic ,product package material, could be used for a window.
The removable landing gear , which I also devised for my Arrow build, is also a great idea.

Thanks for the info. on glue. I still have plenty to learn.

Ditto the plastic product packing...have used this myself. Found the slightly heavier used to cover pies works quite well and plain ole Testors cement for plastic holds it.....Luck JGJ

Thanks guys. I'm having alot of fun with it. Found some stuff around the house to use as a window. Only going to have the front windshield.
Checked out some of the planes over at the G challange site. Not sure I can run with those guys. They are great!!! Might try anyway. I really like the fairchild and the javlin.
Heres the wings framed and sanded.
How much should this plane weigh? I worry that I used too much glue stick. Does anyone know the wing area?

Wings are covered and ready to install. Didnt turn out quite like I hoped but thats ok. It might still fly.
Decided not to enter the G challange just yet. I lack some skills to run with those guys. For now, at least. Working and studying on it. Next year I will win. :roll:

Maybe the year after..... :roll:

Its a great source of inspiration. Thier work is wonderfull.

Looks fantastic!I went looking for the cessna 180 wanted it to go with my 170.Only thing Icould find was the piper super cub 95 so I bought it give it a go!Thinking about adding tow inches to each wing That would make it a 24 inch wing span.I look it over some more first

I think your on to something. I also thought about adding wingspan. I was thinking about doing it with polyhedral. 1 inch per side.

yes exactly my thoughts!They came to be good flyers.One artical says his son build one and gets about 50ft up and 10 to 15 seconds flights.Tath would just thrill me beyond anything.Now I can,t wait.builded the fuse in my hands alomst funny looking little fuse flat looking nose but I love it. builded in down turst love that ,very light but fairy rigged love, that easy to repiar if it does crash love that.The first kit I got had a guillow cataloge very thin showed all the plane and build time.I was hoping to find a new one haven,t found one yet!Had five kits scince then in was in my bf 109 500 kit.The pampet sy this kit the super cub is the same build time as the 500 series 15 hrs.I just don,t see it Iam thinking 9 hrs build time.Of course it said that the 170 was 20 hour build time.I was thinking more like 25 hours it was fairly though.I guess it depends on the builder.But it took me a 5 days to build the 170 and I was rained in every day.But back to the wings Iam thinking a little poly dihedal would make it very stable.ITS 1 1/2 INCH between f2 and f3 dupilcate that scetion and add it to f2 with a inch poly dihedral then follow up with wing tip from f2 to f4 thats the last rib f2. IT would put a 3inch poly diheral wing tip section on it at 1 inch dihedral from main wing it would look grate and fly stabler.Thats cool stuff man

I'm a slow builder. I never get them done according to build time. I used to carry that little booklet in my pocket.

Heres pics. Lacks the windshield.

Heres how I do tail feathers and any flat stuff. Preshrink on a frame of pins. Then glue stick the frame and stick it to the tissue . When dry, cut out close to the wood.

Normally, I use the nose as a way to get down and right thrust, at least during trim flights. This nose was a little different. Its glued onto the fuse. I cut most of the center out and fit a thick piece of wood into it. The thrust button is fit into the wood, kinda tight. I will sand the bigger piece of wood into a shim, [wedge shape] hopefully enough to get proper prop thrust. The plane seems to have plenty of downthrust. so maybe I wont have to sand alot. If I need enough nose ballast, I will use a magnet to hold the wood shim into the plastic cowl.

I left off the rounded wing tips so I can try it and then add polyhedral. Gotta try that idea. Sounds good to me. Might try it on my strato streak also. Built this plane with 0 dihedral. Can change that pretty easy if I need to. It is a high wing with HUGE tail feathers. Will see how it flys.

Ordered plans and decals for the Javelin. It wont be eligable for the G challange, but the next one might be. Will be useing my own wood on this one. Maybe cover with mylar. Thats for another thread......

Yes sir,she looks great!Did you die the slik first or did it come that way.They gave me white and silver with my cub.Got the wings builed and fuse And hung the right wing.I been really slow on this one.But we had a rainy day again got some done.Did get a little flying time on my micro plane.Had to stay away from the puddles.I decided to go with regular set up on wings accept I added a dash of dihedral really don,t think these lite weights need it.Oh the porp is 5 3/4 compare to the standard 5 inch and I like the builded in down trust.This really works on my micro so it should do the same here.

Thanks guys, she dosent look as good up close. :oops:

Weighs 18.5 grams without landing gear. All up weight. Need to figure wing loading, ect. Have not doped.

It flyies. Thats about all I can say at this time. Need to work out the trim. :lol:

Then will add polyhedral.

Thats blue tissue. Esaki. Used a marker to color some edges and the struts. Still no windshield. Working on that.....

The model looks very good from my view. 18.5 grams is very good weight.
My Cub 95 ,in the same series ,is built with dihedral. I will start the cub after completion of the 900 series Mustang.
Does the Cessna 180 call for a non-dihedral wing?
