series 600 cub

I would like to introduce Ben.
Ben wants to fly so we started with a simple flyer. Later He wants to design a craft of his own. Also, he is going to help make a sereis of vids for utube on how to build a series 600 build by number kit. Its amazing what you get when you type in "Guillows" on utube. Will post vids in how-to vids thread. Will post pics on thi thread. That should cover it.

He really is doing all the work. By doing it at my house, I get to vid and he gets to use all the tools. I simply guide him. There will be no "cheating" on this model. [ except rubber ] Strictly by the numbers. Only Guillows wood. Believe it or not, the wood is not so bad this time.
This time, the teacher might be the weak spot in the program.

Excellent first choice for a first kit. I built 2 of these back in the 70's and both flew well right out of the box.

I have to say, Bens work is great. He is very detail attentive. He really wants to learn. That is important.

Are those small framing squares?

Two pieces of balsa. I made them with a small framing square. Very handy.
Draw a center line on your board.
Measure the width [of the plane ] and divide in half. Measure each side and place pins to hold them.
Helps build straight along the line and verticule.
Really handy with box frames. Some people apply tissue and shrink the tissue while its on the jig. I havent tryied that yet.

Hi BEN you really going to like the cub 95!I have been flying mine today and a p40 500 series and having a blast!THE p40 gets 30 to 40 feet flights it likes to have a littlecross wind!The cub gets about 50 to 60 feet flights one 70 feet but it doesn,t like no wind at all!At the end of its flight it teter toders in for a landing BUT I have extra dihedral she cannot roll HE HE!Really cool stuff!
