Looking for some help in identifying/locating a kit. I built this plane in the early 50s and finished it right to the paint and decals. Unforunately, it came to a very bad end due to my stupidity. Been on and off trying to locate another kit. The kit was a gift from my father. It may or may not have been a Guillow, but I'm hoping that another old timer on this board may be able to help me. Plane was not a replica of anything.
Details as far as I can remember.
Wing span between 18 and 24 inches
Rubber powered "enduro" type free flight plane.
Recomended color, bright Red.
VERY large rubber band motor.
Would take off from a dead stop under power from the ground.
OK... this only describes about 1,000 kits.. I know, but the unusual features that it had that I hope will identify it.
1) It was some sort of simplified build plane, i.e., not the traditional stick/tissue build. The wings were classic stick and rib and tissue, HOWEVER, the fuselage was not. The fuselage was made from two identical sheets of balsa for the sides with stick and tissue top and bottom.
2) The rear stabilizer was not the usual "T" but a "V".
Any help identifying this and or finding a kit or even plans would be appreciated. Plane bears a supeficial resemblance to the Guillow Javelin.
