this i started a couple of weeks ago. im making steady progress, and i am impressed with the results.















i used some epoxy glue i bought real cheap, and just normal masking tape to hold parts down. [/code]

Very nice work! I saw where one guy used aluminum insulation material to do this, but this is true reycling!

i had to ask around for cans, and some of my buddies collected a bunch for me (we dont drink too much coke here). if there is a smuge where epoxy glue got on the metal, all i have to do isuse some CA "uncure" or "disolver" and i would scratch it off. the whole thing is very time consuming though.

couldnt have done it without you help Mr. Parker. only change i made to your instructions was i just put the glue directly onto the frame where its going and i taped the metal down really well. it will have moveable ailerons, rudder, and elevator, and built up curve on the stabilizer and rudder.

so i dont think that this will take too much longer, but it will take some time, i do like the glue to dry over night to ensure that everything is held on well before i remove the tape. i guess i made it twice as hard for the tale surfaces for adding built up edges. i dont think that the guy in the video in which i was enspired to do this did that.

dad says that this thing should be kept bare metal. any suggestions (paint or no paint)

I'd leave it bare. If you paint it, it won't look any different from tissue or balsa? Unique idea. I might clear coat it do make sure the aluminum doesn't oxidize.

what with dope? im not going to expose it to anything that might oxydize it. i dont know though... good point

My Ace Hardware store has a clear acrylic spray. I tried the satin finish once, it looked a little cloudy, but it might take some of the shine off. They also make a clear which would not. You should spray a scrap piece before you do the plane to be sure nothing happens. But I am fairly sure this would not react with the aluminum.
