i started on this one last week- gunna be rubber powered, using tissue

from easy built models. colors are purple and yellow, that would be fun,

so ill go with that.

the die cut was ok but not great, and some of the wood was pretty heavy,

but i will just have to deal with it and do my best to keep it light. it will be

a couple of days or so until i am able to make more progress, and for nw,

it looks like for now i can go around and figure more stuff out about

rubber powered FF.

here is a general pic of everything or most of it. ive only built the halfs for

now.



im pretty careful when cutting these out, i know they are fragile and the

wood/die cut wasnt great. also notice how my cuts are a little skinier than

they need to be, and deeper



all parts cut out and bagged to prevent them from getting all over, since

the basement is being finished.

Nice work! keep it up. That propeller looks like the 9 inch ones included in my p-38 kit... Is it kit? Because if it is 9 inch, That seems too big for the plane.

It will fly good with that prop, just use better rubber.

i have a good feeling about this one. 2 goals- flight and covering. whenever i build a plane for display or flight alike, i always try to make the covering as best i can, even though an odd wrinkle wont stop me from flying it. i guess its a habit.... this one is gunna fly

i am not looking forward to having to bend the straight wire into landing gear

get yourself a couple of real nice needle nose plyers. you can thank me later. if you want to bend the gear well, they are a must have. i just use a penament marker to make a mark at the spot where i must bend, constantly making sure the angle is correct every bend i make. its important and often difficult to make sure everything is squared properly but u just need to be careful...

Wire bending is a little bit of an art, but practice makes perfect, as does a pair of decent needle nose pliers and marking out as per ADW's idea, just use a real fine sharpie to make accurate marks

you also need to be careful as to when you are actually making the bend. on a pair of pliers, often if the part of the pliers are thicker, the harder it is to make an acurate bend right on the line that you marked.... follow? so i compramise, and pay attention as im bending to make sure that the actual bend is at the right spot.

oh- i bought myself a scale with a 500g limit and measures in increcments of .01g, which should assist with keeping this thing light. whats a good target weight?

Good work. I am building a Lancer and have the Arrow in a box. Your eyes are younger- could not find on either set of plans the dihedral measurements? let me know if you find them!!!!!

the measurments are not in inches or cm, rather the instructions provide a full size bit of a balsa stringer, which u cut to the correct length, and then use that to prop up the wing to the correct hight. look at it on the side of the plan, where there is a whole section on adding the dihedral on it.
