:D :D

This might just be me, but is that a big or a small engine?
The P-38 is arguably the best... Forget that, it is THE BEST fighter of world war two, and is epically AWESOME!

I would love to build U-control. But, I don't know what all I need to do it (e.g. gas tank, engine ect.). If I ain't intruding privacy, how much does a setup like this cost in the long run? Thanks!

i would start out with a 400 series model. those are good flyers. about 50 bucks. on ebay, you are probably able to score for lower, but ill give you the worse case. that kits has just about everything you need except a fuel tank, motor, glow fuel. my cox .049 Tee Dee (much more power than you need for a 400 series, but it does the trick!) costed me about 70 dollars brand new, with original instructions, original tool for adjustments, a fuel tank motor mount, and screws. from there, all you need are fuel lines and fuel, which doesnt cost much. i would spend less than 14 bucks for both of them.

of course, the prices up there are only for my case. im sure you can find better deals if you place your bid properly. that motor also came with a glow head clip, which conencts to any 1.5 V battery, and will clip onto the glow head of the engine for starting.

here is the wing with top stringers on. i thing that i have figured out the fuel tank, but do not know for sure. i think that the side (the skiniest of the trianular prism) goes on the bottom, with the angled fuel thing on the bottom and facing the outside of the circle.

Crazy. Looks like a lot of fun. The wings look great. Can't wait to see the engine mounted in there.

supercubber- i also forgot to mention some eighth inch plywood (which will cost nothing) to make the motor mount out of. we dont want the vynal ones. you just cut a new one. then you want some eighth inch balsa. then you glue em together. the balsa side sicks to the nose of the fuse, and and plywood side goes to the motor mount. of course, i learned all of this stuff from Bill Parker, he is the master u controler.

al- i am having lots of fun. the engine i have been having some dificulty with. i figure a really good cleaning, and some new fuel and a fuel tank that i can actually figure out will help. ill have to order new tissue as the stuff in the kit is useless.

i haven't ! thanks for reminding me al. i completly forgot.

the kit came with an order form for parts, and a catalog for the kits. the parts paper has a date on it: March of '71

Image

but that really doesnt tell us exactly, so here is something alittle more accurate. the catalog-

look at those prices! this corsair costed 12 bucks then. now its 75. some inflation...

so not only did the catalog have u control planes on it still, but also the prices. i am way to youngh to really know when these kits costed this much...

That Cox 09 really ruled! I believe it put out almost .25 HP, don't get those fingers in there. I wish there was some way to get the ailerons to work with the elevators like the old Top-Flite Nobler! With the wing angle, how do you plan on running the lead-outs?

lukebozek1, are you talking about lead - outs as in the control lines?
