I just noticed this thread. I'm trying to find a 1/16 4-blade HS prop for the 400-series Guillows p-51 that I'm building. Like you, I'm building it for static display. Where did you find the prop on your model, or, did you carve it? I'm a newbie builder and started to try to carve the blades. The balsa block I have has dents and small holes in it. The basswood is much tougher to rough out with a jeweler's saw but easier to shape as its sturdier than balsa.
I'm trying to use pictures taken from different angles of cuffed blades on real p-51's and relating them to the plans in the kit. Seems to me that that the blades on the plans are very thick, though I saw another diagram where the blades also seemed thick. Yet, the photos, admittedly from different angles. seem to show much thinner blades, albeit with the twist (warp?) clearly visible.
I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have. ... Thanks!
