Working With Plastic Canopies

Postby RAYD7024 » Tue Sep 25, 2012 8:23 am

I am looking for advice regarding gluing my Beechcraft Musketeer canopy to the fuselage. How do I manage to get a seamless fit? I'd like the canopy to mate with the fulelange without a noticeable line where the canopy meets the fuselage. Any and all advice will be greatly apprieciated.

I'd like to help you, dude. But, I've not found a way to make a seamless canopy attachment. Sometimes, it happens to fit just right. Usually I just overlap it onto the balsa frame.

You need to be sure to dry fit the canopy before gluing it in place so everything sits as flush as possible to the structure. After you apply your canopy and it's dry, you need to trim the edges with strips of tissue. This will give the seamless look you are looking for.

I hope this helps.
